35. How to Simplify the Overwhlem Showing up in Your Body: "Ego Analyzes, Spirit Accepts"

This week we take a look at our overwhelm/anxiety/resistance from the perspective of the ego, and use the practice of="Ego Analyzes, Spirit Accepts". Understanding the ego and it's tendencies to keep you in the comfortable, will help you start to step away from the patterns that are making you feel stuck. It will help you bring more simplicity to the complexity of triggers, trauma, overwhelm, and any resistance showing up for you. In the simplicity we are able to align with the peace, empowerment and love of your higher self, your spirit.

Let’s bring in the practice of the “ego analyzes, spirit accepts” and having that quote available to us and times that we are feeling overwhelmed, overthinking, anxiety… We can feel it in our body – stress, judgement, expectations – We can literally feel the haviness in the body. This is not a uncommon thing as we carry stress physically in our body. And I think there's just so much there that we can understand about what we're feeling in the moment, and also bring some more light into it. That, in that kind of practice, we're able to create more space and more freedom because we get the empowerment back. And when we can understand and really bring that knowledge into that moment of not feeling good in our body, then we can start to clear the space and break free of, of the judgment and the overwhelm the anxiety. So that quote, that I said at the beginning, the ego analyzes the spirit accepts, this can be something that we can carry into this week, and just keep reminding us of what's really going on. So the ego keeps us in the analyzing, and the predicting. And that can create a lot of overwhelm and, and also creates us kind of in this stuck cycle, the ego isn't a bad thing, the ego just likes to stay in the comfortable, because that's where it feels protected and safe. And, and we've carried it with us for our whole life. So in childhood, we probably needed to feel a sense of safety and protection. And so in that moment, it was really serving us, but now as adults, and we realize that we're stuck in a pattern that we no longer want to exist in, we now can kind of realize that the ego in this way is no longer serving us. Which is really empowering to just be able to say that because we're able to separate our true self, our resource self or higher self, from our own patterns and from our limitations.

So as you go in to this week, I think it'd be really profound in taking that quote, along with you. And in those moments where you're feeling, any kind of discomfort, any kind of overwhelming stress. And you can get caught up in that negative pattern of always trying to think ahead and predict. And, I mean, there's so many different kinds of examples we can bring in here. For me, it's, you guys kind of already know that I am trying to heal my way through my control patterns. And so easily I can get overwhelmed by just small hiccups in my schedule. And I mean, I packed my schedule and I want to be productive and I want to do things in the day that make me feel good. I want to prioritize myself care and then I also want to work on the podcast and put my full effort into it. So all of those things that I really truly desire are coming from my higher self. But when I get triggered and oh, you need to add another thing in your schedule or this happens. Or I'm not feeling good that day. So I'm I don't feel like I can put my full effort into the day because I feel heavy in my body or I eat the wrong thing because I was emotionally eating or any kind of small thing like that can seem small but it can create a lot of impact on ourselves on our body and our emotions. So when I'm in that place, I can always remember that there's, I'm not doing myself any benefit by predicting by analyzing B, because I'm being stuck in that negative pattern. I'm asking to release some of that controller asking there really some of the pain. And in that way, I can always come back to my resource self, in saying that spirit accepts. It just is, in this moment, I feel discomfort. And I can accept fully how I feel. And you guys know, I also love her reference Pema Chodron. But the interesting thing is, is what she talks about is, the paradox of it is when we dive into the discomfort, we actually are able to release it that much quicker. And so the same idea is here is when we're feeling that overwhelm. And we're trying to look to fix it. Or we're trying to shift our schedule around so we can feel better, so I can make it to that yoga class so I can feel better this week. Why don't I feel good right now, all of those kind of incessant thoughts on repeat, we can take a step back by coming back into that quote, and realize that this is the ego, this is part of ourselves that wants to stay in that protection, and safety. And the ego is also keeping us trapped in this kind of never ending cycle, we really don't desire for ourselves.

Another part of the ego is understanding that these patterns, a lot of the time can be trigger points for us and can come from a source of trauma, or deeper fears, deeper wounds, of not feeling supported, not feeling good enough, not feeling worthy, feeling like we're doing everything wrong, we're not doing enough. And when it comes from that place, we need to give ourselves a lot of acceptance and a lot of compassion. And realize we don't really have any kind of control over it anyway. Because when it comes from the emotional brain, our thinking brain, our conscious brain, we're not able to control our way out of it, it's an emotional reaction to trigger and in the Body Keeps the Score Bessel talks a lot about this. And it does kind of offer a little bit of hope, in the way that you don't have control. So by being in that state of surrender, and allowing, you really do enter into the spirit. And then that you actually do gain a lot of empowerment. So it is kind of interesting in the way that that's also shows up as a paradox. When we realize that we don't have all the control in the world in our own strength. We can't rely on that to fix everything, then it creates space from from the trigger points from our discomfort. And then we're actually in a way more empowered place. And we have a lot more freedom. Because we can bring in that acceptance. So it's just a new way that we can really reframe and look at what's happening this week. And if you feel like you're in a triggered place, or you're feeling uncomfortable in your body, just know that you can always bring in that awareness. And I think that's the thing with this quote is you're bringing in awareness to be able to take the power back to be able to step back and say, Oh, I'm just this is just my patterns. This is just the ego. And I know the ego really wants to keep me in the comfortable and I really know that I'm getting this overwhelm, I'm getting this anxiety, I'm feeling this energy in my body, because

it has been a pattern inside me for so long. And now I'm willing to have the courage to be able to look at it, and surrender, control, and accept what is happening in the moment. And in that acceptance, I'm willing to step out of my old patterns and into a new pattern. The brain is amazing, and it's flexibility. And there's this thing called neuroplasticity. And we literally when we're able to bring in that awareness, without doing anything, or fixing anything, we just all we need to do is bring in that awareness. We are literally creating new neural pathways in our brain. And this is such an immense and powerful step in just really starting to understand yourself, understand what's happening from the outside, from a spirit place from my higher self, from the place that you truly desire, and from the place that you move forward with what you truly desire. And so that's our practice this week. Let us know in the comments what you think if you have any questions, put them in the rate and review. This is a great place to support the podcast, bump up the algorithm and then also being able to answer those questions and interact with you guys. That's just awesome. I just love it. I love being here. And I just want to continue building this community. So thank you for showing up. And I'll see you all next week.
